Our Favourite Aloe Vera Creations

Dubbed the Plant of “Immortality” by the Egyptians, and “The Wand of the Heaven” by the Native Americans, this spiky green number has various personalities in store. World famous Aloe Vera stores water in its leaves and survives in low rainfall and arid regions. The bulk of the Aloe Vera leaf is filled with a clear gel-like substance, which is approximately 99% water. This miracle worker is used for a wide range of remedies; containing over 200 active components including vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, polysaccharide, and fatty acids. Humans have used Aloe therapeutically for over 5000 years as it produces at least six natural antiseptics, which are able to kill mould, bacteria, fungus, and viruses.
Convinced yet? We definitely are!
Here are 3 of our favourite uses of this green gem.

Best known for its cooling properties on burns, Aloe does in fact have several properties that are effective in treating a variety of skin conditions. It reduces inflammation and redness of the skin to a great extent. Aloe Vera can also act as a moisturizer and is great for the face to prevents skin drying up. Also, the gel can be used as an aftershave treatment as its healing properties can treat small cuts caused by shaving.
Our favourite topical skin use of Aloe is as an exfoliate to create glowing, fresh skin.

This at home exfoliate will help soften your skin and supply oxygen to your cells, strengthening the tissue to create vibrant skin.

  • 1/2 c. Aloe Vera Gel (direct from leaf or store bought)
  • 1/4 c. Brown Sugar (or Baking Soda)
  1. Mix 1/2 cup of aloe with just enough brown sugar or baking soda to get a gritty texture.
  2. In circular motions, rub it in your elbows, heels, arms, or wherever else needs softening in the shower and rinse.

Aloe Vera is not just great for your skin; it also has a number of benefits for your hair. This miracle worker cleans, nourishes and protects your hair from damage, and makes it shine with a healthy glow. Topical application of Aloe Vera can help promote hair growth through its PH balancing abilities. The natural enzymes found in Aloe Vera can soothe and moisturize the scalp, helping to eliminate the scaly dryness.

Along with castor oil, Aloe Vera can help your hair grow faster, stronger, and healthier:

  • 2 tablespoons aloe vera gel
  • 1 tablespoon castor oil
  1. Mix the aloe vera gel and the castor oil.
  2. Gently massage mixture into your scalp.
  3. Keep it on for an hour (if possible longer would be preferable)

Aloe Vera juice is packed full of amino acids, vitamins and minerals making it one of nature’s most potent cleansers. It can help strengthen digestion which in turn levels alkaline levels, weight loss and rid the body of any nasty waste. Its main property is to be soothing, cooling and moistening which helps to clear inflammatory symptoms.

Aloe Vera juice is available mostly everywhere now, just make sure that there’s no added sugar. Otherwise, if you have an Aloe plant, you can make fresh juice on your own.

  • 1 Aloe Vera Leaf
  • 1 c. Water
  • 1 tsp. Honey
  1. Peel off outer layer of Aloe leaf.
  2. Make sure that you remove the aloe latex, which is the yellow sap that lies underneath the outer leaf** This can be poisonous and is a VERY IMPORTANT step.
  3. Scoop out the gel, and carefully wash to remove any residual sap.
  4. Place the gel in a blender. Add the water and the honey, and blend to combine all the ingredients.

Homemade Hawaiian Coffee Scrub

Hawaiian coffee scrub is  perfect for anyone looking to reverse the appearance of troubled skin.

We were actually in awe about how smooth and moisturized this scrub left our skin the first time we tried it. It is a deliciously invigorating blend of firming, exfoliating and anti-oxidizing ingredients for smooth and supple skin.

If your skin suffers from :acne, psoriasis, cellulite, stretch marks, scars, eczema, oily, or dry skin it will all benefit greatly. We recommend a patch test for those who have highly sensitive skin.

We will show you two different ways to help refreshen your skin from everyday impurities and how to tighten and tone it. One process is best practiced at home and contains Coffee, Cinnamon, Coconut Sugar, and Coconut oil. The second is a quick and efficient way to use when you are travelling and spending nights away in a hotel.

Coffee is a great external boost for your skin when applied topically.

  • It’s a rich source of antioxidants
  • It protects against harsh sun rays
  • It makes skin smooth and bright
  • It enhances circulation

Cinnamon helps clear skin of bacteria and can smooth out fine lines and makes the scrub smell sweet and warm.

Coconut Sugar creates firming and smoothing through extra exfoliation. *You can also substitute with Sea Salt

Coconut oil is perfect for hydrating skin sun kissed or dehydrated skin. It sinks in deep, conditions, moisturizes, and softens skin.

Once in the shower, apply your scrub to your full body but avoiding your face. Massage the scrub onto skin in a circular motion before rinsing. Repeat once a week for a fantastic exfoliation!
